The Great GM

Genre: Fantasy, RPG, Hero’s Journey
Avg chapter reading time: 10min

The most open-ended of all the stories here because character choices are written by YOU.

The Great GM is a fantasy roleplaying story which begins by tracing a new character’s first steps on an epic journey. Whether these steps lead to heroic feats or a villainous rise to power is up to you.

New characters will be introduced along the way as destiny inexorably twists lives together.

Mischief, magic, friendship & romance, honour & betrayal all await.

Barbarian Legends

Genre: Fantasy, Sword & Sorcery
Avg chapter reading time: 10min

Barbarian Legends is a fantasy in a wide range of worlds and kingdoms with uncompromising adventurers whose lack of subtlety often creates more problems than it solves. They acknowledge the existence of political intrigue, sure. They just figure it’s nothing a battle-axe to the face can’t solve. Or make worse. One of those.

Relying on decisive action and the strength of their arms, these men and women will topple evil dictators, tame alien beasts in harsh native habitats, and face off against murderous necromancers. For freedom and glory!

If you want spinning steel and sorcerous skill, look no further. Well… look further, just look here, too.

Love and the Brain

Genre: Romance, modern fantasy, inner dialogue personified
Avg chapter reading time: 10min

For the most part, Love and the Brain takes place inside people’s minds.

Watch the inner havoc and turmoil created by the early stages of attraction and the attempts to develop closer relationship. The events of this storyline are the silent arguments and internal civil wars which result from lack of communication and from being very, very new to the intricate matters of the heart.

If you’ve ever wanted to be a fly on the wall of someone else’s inner dialogue, come get the inside scoop on hopeless romantics who are trying to hide the fact that they are falling hopelessly in love.

Mister Missed Her

Genre: Romance, young adult drama
Avg chapter reading time: 10min

Mister Missed Her is my first-ever foray into the Romance genre. I was surprised at how much fun it was to write.

The story follows complete strangers who are drawn to each other with gravitational insistence. Each makes cat-and-mouse bids for the other’s heart while striving to keep their own hearts safe and guarded.

The more they learn about each other, the more impossible it seems they can ever be together. But the more they are together, the more impossible it seems they could ever be apart.

Follow the victories and shortcomings of seeking intimacy while shying from vulnerability.

Dustgills

Genre: Science-fantasy, alien worlds & cultures
Avg chapter reading time: 10min

Dustgills is the first story in the list where none of the people are precisely human.

An entirely unique alien culture and setting where the characters are very much specks on the landscape. Encounter the various earthswimmer tribes and learn how big a world can be when you’re not limited to its crust.

Not to say the surface is lifeless. Evacuated, yes. Uninhabited, no. And those who rule there do not belong.

They will come. For the surface is the key to the deep and the deep is the hunger of the surface.

Life Before Birth

Genre: Comedy, fantasy, slice of life
Avg chapter reading time: 10min

Full disclosure, Life Before Birth is one of my weirder stories in terms of its premise.

There’s these two pregnant women who are best friends, and they want their unborn children to be best friends too. So they both swallow a phone.

(I am fully aware that the oesophagus does not lead to the uterus. Just go with it.)

Take a silly romp and follow two very different babies in their experience and expectations of life and the birth that is to come. You may not remember becoming a human for the first time, but there sure is a whole lot to learn.

Magus Mechanus

Genre: Fantasy, unique magic systems
Avg chapter reading time: 10min

Magus Mechanus is a leap into a magic system bound by strict rules. Rules which may be transcended, though at great risk.

Use of this magic system requires focus, extreme precision, and dedication. Learning it for the first time requires even more. Nevertheless, in theory, anyone with the desire to learn this system may do so. Anyone except Reidu. Which is kind of fine with him because the kind of magic he has cannot be taught, and everyone wants it. Everyone wants him for it. Some of them even want him alive.

Shattered alliances seek to gain power, kings claw to hold their thrones, a new threat is discovered which could ravage the land, and all of these seek Reidu. He just wishes they would all leave him alone.

Tales of Bahndekring

Genre: Fantasy, non-human main characters
Avg chapter reading time: 10min

Tales of Bahndekring is straight bizarre. But I had fun writing the first chapter, and I wonder if there might be a place for it here.

There is a legend of a creature that wished to become other than it was.

It is said this creature got its wish. Oh yes, and more besides, much more than it wanted; all the begging in the world wouldn’t give it back. Magic and tragedy come hand in hand, you see. Change has a cost.

What will the price of freedom be?

The Wollusk

Genre: Science-fantasy, alien cultures & technologies, dimension hopping
Avg chapter reading time: 10min

The Wollusk, to me, is second only to The Great GM in the scope of its potential creativity.

I think it came from following an idle curiosity one day: how do ideas get here? Where are they before we have them?

So I made a world of them. They can come here, certainly. But here is not the only there to visit, now is it? And not every ‘they’ that waits would be welcome. Fortunately there is but one way into the many realms of real. Unfortunately, this way is sentient and takes no sides but simply seeks the best story.

Have a look. You’ll have to dispense with more reality than you may be used to relinquishing. But some people like it that way.
