Blog #1 - How all this works
Hi, I'm Marcus.
The site is live. I'm so very excited! I will try my utmost to not speak too quickly. So let me tell you how this whole thing works.
I'm a storyteller, but I've always been more of an interactive one. I like to engage with my audience and judge by their reactions how things are going. I want to tell the stories that you guys are enjoying, and I've decided to make it a co-creative process.
This site, at its inception, has 9 different storylines to choose from. I'm offering subscribers the opportunity to vote on choices that can be made by the characters, events that could happen next, and of course which stories I should progress next. Because 9 is still a lot to write in any given week. I will be writing at least 2 chapters a week, and you guys are going to help me decide which stories are the ones that you most want to see some progress in. There are some other larger projects that I'm working on as well in the background, but I'll be talking to you guys about that as we go.
One thing I should really mention is The Great GM. That is a particular storyline that is meant to emulate kind of a D &D, Dungeons and Dragons, tabletop role -playing feel. It's a casual type of RPG, so this is going to star you. That's my challenge in writing it, because I haven't met most of you. Rather than give you guys a couple of choices to choose from at the end of any given chapter, you guys are actually going to give me feedback on a larger version. I'm just going to ask, “What do you do?” at the end of any given chapter. You can decide something like, “I construct a ladder completely out of Cat’s Tales.” I don't know. You guys will come up with stuff. I'll just choose the suggestion that I think is the most interesting and that progresses the story in the coolest way. We’ll go from there.
In the meantime, for those of you who aren't ready to subscribe, then that's fine. There is going to be some free fiction available on the site, but that's going to come out slower, and it's not going to be sequential because I'm clever and sneaky that way. So it's meant to just have a couple of teasers for you, including some of the larger projects.
Some people, speaking of larger projects, know a little bit about my wife and I having an infertility journey. And I have a project that talks about that. There came a point where we found out that we were pregnant, and I couldn't wait to meet our child, and so I just started writing a letter for them. It ballooned and became a bigger project. You can find out a little bit more information on the site here, and the subscribers will, as is to be expected, get more information than anyone else, earlier than anyone else.
So I do highly recommend you subscribe, but if you're not ready to do that, and you still want to give, then there's donations available and later on there'll probably be kickstarters for some of those larger projects.
We'll see how it goes.
I am so excited to start co-creative storytelling with you. And so let's jump right into it. Let's make some magic.
