The below projects are not part of the weekly chapter fiction…
These are larger, long-term endeavours.
When they are ready, most of these will be released for purchase separately from the subscription package. The main form of purchase will originally be as eBooks, though I also plan to create a physical product. Later.
In the meantime, have a look at what I’m working on!

The below ideas have not yet been fully tamed. Approach at your own risk.
Phantom Slayer of Wandering City
In the year 2376, nine year old Dyron Bertelish wakes to find himself wanted by the authorities for murdering his parents, a crime he didn’t commit. He thinks he didn’t. He’s pretty sure. Seventy percent sure. An argument could be made for sixty five.
As an added bonus, Dyron and technology have never really been on speaking terms. Which would be fine except the city is mostly tech. From plumbing and roads to the skydome above. Including the buildings. He can’t even get inside his own front door.
On the run in a continuously changing city, Dyron stumbles into the relative safety of living on the streets. There he finds corruption, servitude, threat of discovery, distrust, disloyalty, and most important of all: answers.
Waiting for Nevada
I’m not sure how many people know how long we were trying for children. When we finally got pregnant, I knew all the sensible advice would have been to not get my hopes up.
I couldn’t help it. How is it possible to miss someone you’ve never even met? So I did what I do: I started writing. In this case, a sort of love letter to my unborn child.
This is the true story of our walk through infertility, IVF, pregnancy, complications and stresses, and the brick-on-brick development of faith for the impossible.
See, we didn’t just want a baby. We wanted a supernatural childbirth.
My wife says she wouldn’t describe birth as painful.

Historical Drama
I have a much better title than that. The project is, as the picture suggests, top secret at the moment. So here’s what I feel comfortable telling you for now.
Some years back, a woman approached me and asked if I would be willing to write her a movie script. She was the daughter of a man involved in the events she wanted to highlight, a slice of New Zealand’s efforts in World War 2 which I had never heard before.
The script became a series. We’re almost ready to pitch it. I hope.
Children’s Bible Stories
My child loves books. Especially the eating of books. We have learned that cardboard page books are superior to paper page books at this stage.
And there are a lot of books out there for kids. Just not a lot of bible story books for kids, or not as many as I’d like. So my wife suggested we write them ourselves.
Hunh. Write them ourselves.
Okay.
Children’s Fiction
Even before I had kids, I was already thinking about lots of different ideas for children’s stories. True to form, the ideas haven’t slowed down. So now I just have more of them.
All of them are some form of fantasy. Increasingly so as my target age demographic gets older.
To very young kids, stories need an element of reality. Something familiar to make the story meaningful. For them, the real world is magical enough on its own.
As kids get older, they’re better able to appreciate imaginary characters and undiscovered beasties. And boy, can I help there.
